Madre Grande Monastery Fire - Please help

Hi all,

We've been evacuated since Sunday and are looking for help. Maybe someone on this list can help us. We can't get back into the area to see if our homes have burned or to rescue any cats that might still be alive.

Does anyone know anyone with an animal rescue organization that can get into the area to get our small friends? Does anyone know someone in the area or a firefighter that might have news about the structures at Madre Grande Monastery (address is 18372 Highway 94, Dulzura, CA 91917). Maybe even a local sheriff or border patrol? We know most people are busy with the current evacuation areas and their own losses, and we're being as patient as we can, but we'd love some help. It's been days and we really want to get our cats or at least have someone check on them. It's trying to go through this with no information, so please contact us at reservations@madregrande.org or call my cell phone at (619) 850-6936 if you can help - anytime.

Thank you in advance. We really appreciate any support. We'll let you know when we have more information.

Sincerely,
Tracey

My parents live in El Cajon and the evac area from this
fire is spread all the way into El Cajon. I know the 94
is still closed down tightly and they're asking residents
not to put law officers and officials at risk by asking them
to go back. Once the high risk is over they will start letting
people back in. They just don't want people to ask them
to risk their own safety to go back into dangerous areas.
And once you're allowed back in be prepared to show ID
that shows your address to be let in.

I wish I had better news....
